Hurghada To Cairo tour from Hurghada Day 2
After enjoying the breakfast at your hotel, you will start a full-day tour to a fantastic place where you will breathe fresh air and have a perfect panorama for the whole Cairo (The Citadel of Saladin) or Qala a Salah Al-din. The fortress built in 7 years between 1176 and 1183 A.D to protect Cairo from the Crusaders on Mokattam hill near the center of Cairo.
There you will have the chance to visit the Mosque of Muhammed Ali or the Alabaster Mosque which was built between 1828 and 1848. Also, you will compare this Mosque as a perfect example of the Ottoman architecture in Egypt and another typical Egyptian architecture Mosque for the king Al-Nasser Muhammed Qalaun dates back to the 14th Century. Endly you can enjoy your free time visiting Qaser El Gawhara Museum or the Military Museum.
The next stop and it is not far from here will be your trip adventure. To reach the place and it is the only access, you have to drive up the narrow steep village streets, passing piles of plastics, metal and food waste on each side of the alleys and people sorting them out seemed like a ride through hell which finally ended at the gate of the monastery at an unexpected, stunning vast open space. Spectacular colored carvings engraved in stone all over the mountains depict scenes of the bible or the cave church.
Second Stop
The monastery of Saint Samaan at the Mokattam hill, the first church was built in 1986 in honor of the Coptic saint Samaan al Kharaz (Simon the Tanner), one thousand years after his miracle and his death; the monastery contains seven churches and chapels hidden in a series of natural caves in the Mokattam hills. The semi-circular auditorium descending into the mountain is awesome and offers to seat for 20000 people.
Khan El Khalili Bazaar
After your adventure, you will take your lunch in a local restaurant then you will go to one of the most famous shopping places in Cairo Khan El Khalili markets or Khan El Khalili Bazaar, in the heart of Islamic Cairo. It is a huge place with many shops filled with unique and exotic items. If you need some souvenirs to bring home for friends or for decoration or anything locally made, you will have thousands of choices here. Just do not forget it is time to use your negotiation skills.
