Abu Simbel Tour from Marsa Alam Day

Aswan is a city not to be missed while you stay in Marsa Alam. Aswan has a lot to offer to everyone who needs to explore ancient Egypt, please his eyes with one of the most beautiful natural sceneries in the world. Aswan offers historical sightseeing, tranquility, perfect winter climate, and incomparable natural landscape.

Aswan offers you the chance to sail through the first cataract of the Nile River, the stunning nature of Philae Island, Aga Khan mausoleum, and Elephantine Island. While you are in Aswan you can see the NILOMETER, you can enjoy the Felucca riding to the colorful Nubian village. Enjoy crossing the Old Dam and the High Dam, sail to the beautiful romantic temple of the Philae which is known as the goddess Isis temple. The granite quarries and the unfinished Obelisk will be a nice option to know about the hard work of cutting the stones.

 Day 1 Marsa Alam Aswan

Abu Simbel tour from Marsa Alam stars with pick up on the agreed time at the reception of your hotel. Our representative will pick you up with a private air-conditioned vehicle to Aswan. During the way, you can take some photos of the beautiful landscape.

Aswan Dam – High Dam

Upon arrival, you will start your first full-day tour to the Aswan dam (considered the fourth Pyramid and The greatest public work to be undertaken in Egypt since the pyramid) which is far 15 km from Aswan. On the way, you will pass by the old dam which made by the British 1902.

Philae temple – Goddess Isis temple

After that, you will visit the romantic Philae Temple which was 500 meters far from the current site on Agilika Island. Philae temple was totally submerged under the water of Lake Nasser but the great temple and the rest of Philae monuments were pulled out of the water and re-erected on a nearby island, now renamed Philae.

Enjoy a short trip with a motorboat to reach the site of the temple on Philae island in the middle of the Nile. The Motorboat will bring you to a magnificent vista of the island before landing at what would have been the ancient quay on the south side.

You will hear from your guide a lot of stories and legends connected with Philae temple especially the most well-known one tells the story of how Isis found the heart of Osiris here after his murder by his brother Seth and the Anas El Wogood love story.

Lunch

Enjoy a typical Egyptian food in one of the local restaurants in Aswan.

Unfinished Obelisk – Granite quarries in Aswan

You will end your day tour at the granite quarries from where they cut their obelisks and statues. There you will see the unfinished obelisk of the queen Hatshepsut which is 42 meters and 1200 tons.

Your guide will explain to you how they cut the obelisks from the quarries and how they smoothed them. How they rolled them from the quarries to the River Nile on wooden sleds and how they erected then vertically like those in Karnak temple. Then you will go to your hotel in Aswan to check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Abu Simbel – Aswan – Marsa Alam

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan after Breakfast with your private air-conditioned vehicle to join the convoy (the starting point for the entire daily trip to Abu Simbel temple). The place located 280 km south of Aswan and only 40 km north of our border with Sudan.

Here you will enjoy visiting the two great temples of king Ramses II. The two rock temples erected in ancient Nubia and they took 20 years to be terminated. Right now the two temples are not in the original site where they were built they are 65 meters higher and 225 meters back from the river with façade like 33 meters high.

Cutting the entire site into large blocks, dismantled them, numbering then and reconstructed them in the new site took 4 years between 1964-1968.to save the two temples from the rising water of Lake Nasser, growing behind the Aswan Dam, was in need of the help of UNESCO. In 1959 an international donation Campaign to save the monuments of Nubia. It costs 40 million dollars at that time.

Two hours to visit the great temple of Ramses II and the little temple of his beloved wife the queen Nefertari, Free time at leisure or to have a drink on the Nubian café by the exit of the temples. Abu Simbel to Aswan convoy starts back to Aswan.

Lunch

Enjoy your lunch in a local restaurant followed by 30 minutes of Felucca riding (against charge) before you will head back to Marsa Alam with your guide and driver.

We want to make it as easy as possible to do so we try to make our cancellation policy as good as we can and we divided the cancellation policy into Individual Travelers, groups depending on the high and peak period of the season.

Day Tours and Shore Excursions Cancellation

Cancellation by the clients

Cancellation requests should be sent via fax or emailed to provide the Company with written confirmation that your reservation should be cancelled.
In case you cancel your trip, the following scale of charges will be applied.

  • For daily excursions no cancellation fee ( 0 % cancellation fee ) is charged and a full refund is given if the cancellation is received 12 hours before trip starts.
  • Less than 12 hours before the trip starts a 50% will be charged as a cancellation fee.
  • Additionally, there are cancellation fees on all domestic flights within Egypt. If you cancel a tour at any time, you will be subject to any fees according to airline’s cancellation policy.

Cancellation by Golavita

We reserve the right to cancel a tour at any circumstances but will not cancel a tour less than 45 days before departure, except for Force Majeure, Low Bookings or clients’ failure to pay the final balance, the Company will, upon cancellation, return all monies paid excluding payment for travel insurance or offer an alternative tour of comparable standard. No compensation will be paid to the Client if cancellation is because of Force Majeure or Low Bookings.

All the historical mosques are open for the visit of Muslims/non-Muslims alike like Mohamed Ali Mosque within the Citadel, Amr Ibn El Ass mosque, Ibn Tulun mosque, El Refae mosque, Madrassa of Sultan Hassan and Al Azhar mosque. However, there are protocols which must be followed. Always remember a mosque is a place of prayer and worship for Muslims. It is not a museum.

The answer is between yes and no. in most of the sightseeing it is allowed to take photos and make your trip memorable but there are other places in which you can not take even your camera with you for example Egyptian Museum, Valley of the kings, inside any of the Pyramid, inside the tombs in Sakkara, tombs of noblemen in Luxor, valley of the queens in Luxor.
