Egyptian Museum

The Museum is designed by Marcel Dourgnon in the neoclassical style and it has 107 halls. The exhibits are arranged in chronological order on two floors, with 42 rooms on the ground floor and 47 rooms on the upper floor plus annexes at the entrance. On the ground floor, there are huge statues, sarcophagus, and boats. The upper floor houses the small statues, jewels, Tutankhamon treasures.

A hall for the royal mummies was opened in the upper floor housing 11 kings and queen’s mummies and 27 mummies in total. The Museum houses in general approximately 160 000 objects covering the 5 000 years of Egypt’s past. Please do not hope to see everything inside the museum at one time. It has actually been calculated that if you spend one minute at each exhibit it will take nine months to see the whole collection!

Then you will have free time to look at the animal mummy’s room or go to visit the royal mummies room which is an extra charge.

Felucca Ride

After the Museum, you will enjoy 30 minutes in Felucca or Motorboat over the River Nile and enjoy some of the stunning views of Cairo and smell the air, enjoy the soft breeze on your face.

Al-Azhar Park

You will visit Al-Azhar Park, one of the 60 greatest places in the world. Now Al-Azhar Park is a treasure of calm in a city of chaos. From here you can see the Citadel and the mosque of Mohamed Ali or the Alabaster Mosque, the city of the Dead and a lot of the Islamic monuments. It’s an excellent place to take great shots or enjoy Egyptian coffee or have a meal in one of the restaurants or watch your kids play around you.

Lunch

You will enjoy your lunch in a typical Egyptian restaurant

Khan El Khalili Bazaar

The next stop will be Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the most interesting bazaars in Egypt. It offers typical oriental souvenirs and handmade crafts. You will enjoy walking in the narrow streets and negotiate or bargain the prices. Remember the prices are not fixed.

Whirling Dervish Dances

The last stop will be the Whirling Dervish Dances; it’s a great opportunity to see one of the medieval spaces in use. A young man dressed in a yellow skirt with four colors representing the four seasons of the year, and other dancers wearing a different color that varies in a reflection of different planets rotating around the sun.

It is said that it reflects the relationship of the earth, sky, God, and man, connecting them all through that deep and oriental dance. Especially when a dancer opens his arms wide open receiving God’s acceptance and beneficence. The show lasts like one hour then you will go back to your hotel in Cairo for dinner and overnight.
