TRIP ITINERARY
Al Azhar Park and Pharaonic village top activities in Cairo
Al Azhar Park and Pharaonic village half-day tour start from your hotel in Cairo with an air-conditioned vehicle. You will head with your guide directly to the Pharaonic Village on the West bank of the Nile. You will start your trip which lasts between two and three hours with a boat trip explaining the Egyptian daily life. A hundred actors and actresses demonstrate scenes from ancient Egypt their activities in agriculture, irrigation, sculpting, papyrus making, care for animals and their equipment and also old pharaonic houses. Moreover, the village has as we mentioned replica of King Tutankhamen’s treasures and a lot of Museum which relate to different periods like;
- The Papyrus exhibit
- the Pyramids and Sphinx exhibit
- the Mummification and medicine exhibit
- Boat exhibit
- arts and beliefs exhibit
- Cleopatra exhibit
- the Coptic exhibit,
- Islamic art and history exhibit
- Napoleon’s expedition in Egypt
- Modern Egypt exhibit
in addition to three museums for three of our late presidents Mohamed Naguib, Nasser, and Sadat.
The village also has a wonderful place for children as it includes an interesting amusement park “Tut land”, and an “Art Center” where children can learn the art of pottery, painting on papyrus, making papyrus boats, sculpting, making accessories, and other handicrafts plus for birds lovers, they can watch here plenty of birds like Cattle Egret, Rock Dove Columba, Little Gull, Barn Swallow, White Wagtail, White-Breasted Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher Ceryle, Bluethroat Luscinia and much more.
Second Stop Al Azhar Park
After you will finish your tour, you will continue your tour to Al-Azhar Park on Al-Darassa. It is known that the place was for very long time (for about 500 years) a municipal rubbish dump and with the help of Aga Khan Trust for Culture in 1984 and with a cost of 33 million they converted that dump to one of the 60 greatest places in the world and they recreated a park for 15 million citizens of Cairo or as it is said a “green Lunge” for the city.
It’s funny to know that they removed 80 000 truckloads of the debris before starting the reconstruction and because of that, they discovered a 12th-century Ayyubid city wall of Cairo dates back to the time of Saladino and some stones with hieroglyphics texts. Now Al-Azhar Park is a treasure of calm in a city of chaos. From here you can see the Citadel and the mosque of Mohamed Ali or the Alabaster Mosque, the city of the Dead and a lot of the Islamic monuments. It’s an excellent place to take great shots or enjoy Egyptian coffee or have a meal in one of the restaurants or watch your kids play around you. It’s not advised during the weekend or Egyptian holidays.
