Aswan tours day trip from Marsa Alam to the city of Aswan is a must while you are in Marsa Alam. Aswan is the third biggest Egyptian city and the largest in Upper Egypt. Aswan was Egypt’s southern frontier lies on the northern end of the first cataract. Aswan is famous by the granite quarries from where the ancients cut Obelisks, shrines, statutes, and Sarcophagus. There is a lot to see in Aswan like the Old dam, High Dam, unfinished obelisk of Hatshepsut, the temple of Isis or Philae temple and Elephantine island.

Aswan tours start with an early pickup around 05.00 am from your hotel in Marsa Alam with a private air-conditioned vehicle to Aswan. During the way, you can take some photos of the beautiful landscape.
Aswan Dam
Upon arrival, you will start your full-day tour to the Aswan dam (The greatest public work to be undertaken in Egypt since the pyramid) which is far 15 km from Aswan. On the way, you will pass by the old dam which made by the British 1902. Aswan high dam is a rock-filled dam that started 1960 and was completed in 1968 but officially was inaugurated in 1971.
Philae Temple – Isis temple
After that, you will visit the romantic Philae temple which was 500 meters far from the current site on Agilika Island which is totally submerged under the water of Lake Nasser. The great temple and the rest of Philae monuments were pulled out of the water and re-erected on a nearby island, now renamed Philae. The temple was a pilgrimage center for the cult the goddess Isis, goddess of love and motherhood in the past
To reach the site of the temple on its island in the middle of the Nile, you will enjoy a short trip with a motorboat to bring you to a magnificent vista of the island before landing at what would have been the ancient quay on the south side.
You will hear from your guide a lot of stories and legends connected with Philae temple especially the most well-known one tells the story of how Isis found the heart of Osiris here after his murder by his brother Seth.
Lunch
Lunch will be taken in Egyptian restaurant then you will end your day tour at the granite quarries from where they cut their obelisks and statues.
Hatshepsut Obelisk
There you will see the unfinished obelisk of the queen Hatshepsut which is 42 meters and 323 tons in the granite quarries in Aswan. The quarries like an open-air museum that gives a great idea into the techniques that the ancients used to cut the stones.
Your guide will explain to you how they cut the obelisks and how they smoothed them. How they transported them from the quarries to the River Nile and how they erected them vertically like those in Karnak temple. After that, you will take your transfer back to your hotel in Marsa Alam.

Day Tours and Shore Excursions Cancellation
Cancellation by the clients
Cancellation requests should be sent via fax or emailed to provide the Company with written confirmation that your reservation should be cancelled.
In case you cancel your trip, the following scale of charges will be applied.
- For daily excursions no cancellation fee ( 0 % cancellation fee ) is charged and a full refund is given if the cancellation is received 12 hours before trip starts.
- Less than 12 hours before the trip starts a 50% will be charged as a cancellation fee.
- Additionally, there are cancellation fees on all domestic flights within Egypt. If you cancel a tour at any time, you will be subject to any fees according to airline’s cancellation policy.
Cancellation by Golavita
We reserve the right to cancel a tour at any circumstances but will not cancel a tour less than 45 days before departure, except for Force Majeure, Low Bookings or clients’ failure to pay the final balance, the Company will, upon cancellation, return all monies paid excluding payment for travel insurance or offer an alternative tour of comparable standard. No compensation will be paid to the Client if cancellation is because of Force Majeure or Low Bookings.

Is it allowed for non-Muslims to enter historical mosques in Egypt?
• Non-Catholics can enter the Vatican and non-Christians are welcomed at churches around the world. While not all the holy mosques of Egypt are off-limits to non-Muslims. All the historical mosques are open for the visit of Muslims/non-Muslims alike like Mohamed Ali Mosque within the Citadel, Amr Ibn El Ass mosque, Ibn Tulun mosque, El Refae mosque, Madrassa of Sultan Hassan and Al Azhar mosque. However, there are protocols which must be followed. Always remember a mosque is a place of prayer and worship for Muslims. It is not a museum.
Can I take pictures while visiting the monuments in Egypt
The answer is between yes and no. in most of the sightseeing it is allowed to take photos and make your trip memorable but there are other places in which you can not take even your camera with you for example Egyptian Museum, Valley of the kings, inside any of the Pyramid, inside the tombs in Sakkara, tombs of noblemen in Luxor, valley of the queens in Luxor.
