West bank tours from Luxor is a full-day tour to one of the largest, richest, and best known archaeological sites in the world. West bank Luxor was one of the first sites listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1979.
West bank Luxor
West Bank of Luxor is one of the most incredible historical sites in the world. It covers about 10 kilometers square where archaeologists found thousands of tombs, temples, houses, shrines, monasteries and work stations.
Easily we can say that the West Bank is a unique place where we are going to watch a silent movie on the walls of the places you will visit today. The houses, the gardens, the silent movie on the walls of the tombs, vineyard, sport, celebration, music and fun and so on
You will start your day with breakfast at our hotel or your Nile cruise then your guide will join you on a full-day tour to the West bank of the Nile.
Madinet Habu temple
You will start with the temple of the last great pharaoh RamsesIII, Madinet Habu temple. the temple was discovered between “1859-1899 “by the Egyptian antiquities service. Madinet Habu temple is one of the largest memorial temples on the west bank of the River Nile and the best-preserved temple in Thebes.
During your visit to this temple, you will enjoy watching some of the wonderful scenes like hunting Bull by king RamsesIII and you will feel the pain of the wounded animal. Here also you will look at the ruins of the only royal palace you can see in Luxor moreover you will enjoy the beautiful scenes of Ramses battles against the Sea people and Libyans. Also, you will see the ritual sacrifice scenes of the enemies in front of different gods. Anyhow you will enjoy the stories you will listen from your guide about the Syrian fortress and the first pylon in this temple.
Valley of the Queens
Continue your tour to the valley of the Queens with its 72 tombs which dedicated mainly to the queens, princes and high officials. Here you can see the best-decorated tomb of the famous queen Nefertari-the wife of king Ramses II and two more tombs for the prince Khaemwaste(Qv44) and Amonkhepshef.
Deir El Madina
The next stop will be Deir El Madina or the city of the workers The name was given to the place after the Christian converted the temple of the goddess Hathor into church and church means Dier in Arabic so it means the church or the monastery of the town. the place was discovered between “1905-1909”. At Deir El Madina, they found a village, cemetery, temple and a large amount of Ostracs, almost 5000 pieces which tell about their daily life. We know that in that place they discovered the oldest laundry in the world. We knew also about the payment system. Sure was not money but a piece of land, ahead of animals and a little house. We knew that the government cared about the worker’s life, week counted in that time 10 days and normally workers had 3 days off in which they can go and visit their families and rest from work.
On your Luxor day trip, you have a big chance to touch the appreciation that the workers and the artisans gain in that era. your guide will answer all your questions like were they slaves or free? where did they live and work? ,were they allow to deal with the public or not ?how were the designs of their houses ,their tombs ,and why they choose their city to be to the west bank of the river, in your visit to Dier Al Madina ,you will see to tombs of the workers, small temple of Dier Al Madina, moreover the 120 mud bricks houses of the workers which were found nearby the tombs.
Valley of Noblemen
Noblemen were some of the powerful courtiers and they had these rock-cut tombs in an area called Sheikh Abd EL Qurna. Here you can see the difference and the change from the repeated scenes in the tombs of the kings and queens to the scenes which concern life, earth life the activities like fishing, hunting birds and plowing the land. The common question from our clients is how we are quite sure about that culture, life and so on. The answer is everything is depicted on the walls of the tombs of the noblemen which are small in size but great in value. Here is your first stop more than 400 tombs, of which only 7 is of high interest, Those of Rekhmire, Sennofer, Ramose, Userhat, Khaemhat, Nakht, and Menna. The entrance ticket for 2 tombs only but you can add 2 more or 4 tombs to enjoy more and more details.
Colossi of Memnon
You will have your last stop by the Colossi of Memnon, the gigantic statues of king Amenhotep III that was once standing in front of his mortuary temple and decorating the entrance of that temple.
At the end of your tour, our guide will take you back to your hotel or Nile Cruise
