TRIP ITINERARY
Philae Temple World Heritage Site
Philae temple light and sound show start with evening pick up from your hotel or Nile Cruise boat in Aswan to watch one the best sound and light shows in Egypt in one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Its historical and cultural values are simply beyond description. Philae temple was one day the southernmost place in Egypt and, and the last outpost of the 4000-year-old ancient Egyptian religion.
Philae temple has a marvel story. Originally the temple set on the island of Philae above the spectacular granite falls of the First Cataract. When the British built the first Aswan dam, the Island and temple were partially flooded during the months of the high Nile, when the Aswan dam was built in 1960. Lake Nasser threatened to put Philae entirely underwater.
Philae Temple Rescue Project
A joint project between UNESCO and the Egyptian government rescued Philae from the Nile’s waters.
The project occurred over a period of ten years, between 1970 and 1980. The temples have been completely dismantled and labeled into 40,000 individual blocks and pieces rebuilt to the original orientation on the nearby island of Agilika which rises higher from the water and has been reshaped and landscaped to resemble the original Philae
To see this amazing show, you have to make a short boat trip from the marina to Agilika Island. The boat trip gives you the chance to have a magnificent view of the temple from outside and also the island. As the boat ripples through the waters of the Nile, you will figure out that Philae Temple appears gloriously on the horizon.
The show starts outside the temple with music setting in, two voices tell about the legend of Isis (a healer, a giver of life, and a protector of kings). and Osiris (god on underworld). The latest lighting, laser and projection technologies are utilized to visualize mysteries of the Pharaonic civilization. Then a guard or dark skin man from Aswan will lead the visitors from one place to another while listening to the adventures of the Egyptian Gods. In the end, you will have a seat to listen until the end of the show then you will take the motorboat back to the marine from where our representative will drive you back to your hotel or Nile Cruise boat.
