TRIP ITINERARY

Aswan Abu Simbel Kom Ombo Temple and Edfu Temple From Aswan

Day 1 (Abu Simbel)

Begin your three days in Aswan with exploring Abu Simbel temple. Breakfast boxes should be ordered at the reception of your hotel or Cruise boat one night before. Our guide will pick you up early morning with our air-conditioned vehicle to join the convoy (the starting point for the entire daily trip to Abu Simbel).

Abu Simbel is located 280 km south of Aswan and only 40 km north of our border with Sudan. Immerse yourself and enjoy visiting two of the most beautiful Egyptian temples, Abu Simbel temples of the king RamsesII. The two rock temples erected in ancient Nubia and they took 20 years to be terminated. Right now the two temples are not in the original site where they were built they are 65 meters higher and 220 meters back from the river with façade like 33 meters high. Cutting the entire site into large blocks, dismantled them, numbering them and reconstructed them in the new site took four years to be completed between 1964-1968

Saving Abu Simbel temple

Saving the two temples from the rising water of the Lake Nasser, growing behind Aswan High dam, was in need of the help of UNESCO. In 1959 an international donation Campaign to save the monuments of Nubia. It costs 40 million dollars at that time. Two hours to visit Abu Simbel temple, the great temple of RamsesII and the little temple of his beloved wife the queen Nefertari. Breakfast you can have on the cafeteria near the temple. You guide will explain to you how they cut the obelisks and how they smoothed them. How they transported them from the quarries to the River Nile and how they erected then vertically like those in Karnak temple.
